Is there a God in the sky?

Now that I’m older it seems ridiculous, naive, dogmatic to think there could be a big old man with a big long beard sitting in the clouds looking down upon us all. Why do we teach children such a ridiculous concept? Why do we teach children such paradoxical things. Don’t lie, but I’ll [in effect] lie about there being a man in the clouds. Don’t cheat, but I’ll cheat to get by in life and then go to God to confess my sins and excuse myself! Children must think adults are a strange bunch, but then we were once children too remember. We don’t even recognize we were once innocent and soft and needing like the children before us. We just get angry and short-tempered with children and inflict upon them what we swore as children we would never have done.

If there is a God, in the sky or anywhere why does he not give us the answers to all of these questions?
